Love in Bangladesh is a complicated and at times dangerous thing. In a Muslim society where family and traditions are key values, a lover of your own choice is a luxury. Arranged marriages have been, and still are the norm in a society, where most parents don’t want their children to choose their own life partner. Marriage is not only a union of two people; it is a merging of two families that has to be successful.
Consequently religion, economy and social status become the deciding factors. These are hard terms for young people that dream about love and the freedom of choice. Sweethearts have to meet in secret to hide from disapproving eyes and the odd encounter with parents or acquaintances. In parks and at beaches they live out the dream for a short period of time, well knowing that their future comes down to the family and the ways of tradition.
This is a difficult love story.
